Byddwn yn dathlu Dydd Gwyl Dewi yn yr ysgol ar ddydd Llun 3 Mawrth 2025. Bydd y gweithgareddau canlynol yn mynd ymlaen yn ystod y dydd. We will be celebrating St David’s Day in school on Monday 3rd March 2025. The following activities will be taking place throughout the day.

Diwrnod Gwisgo Coch, Gwyn a Gwyrdd/Wear Red, White or Green Day: All pupils and staff are kindly requested to wear a red, white or green top to school (normal school uniform on the bottom half). Each pupil is kindly requested to bring a £1 cash donation to school, to be collected in during registration by our class/form teachers. All money raised will support the development of Welsh across our school with particular focus on our pupils taking part in the Urdd National Eisteddfod for the first time this year.

Gweithgareddau hwyliog mewn gwersi/Fun activities in lessons: Our normal curriculum will be transformed into a feast of fun activities, celebrating our language, heritage and culture.

Cwpan Gwyl Dewi/St David’s Cup: We have started a new tradition with our neighbours Ysgol Bro Dur. Each year from now will see a sports competition between the 2 schools to earn possession of the St David’s Cup. In this inaugural year the competitions will be rugby and netball for Year 7 and 11 respectively.

Mae disgyblion blwyddyn 8 wedi bod yn gweithio’n galed wrth ddysgu am beryglon ysmygu dros y deudydd diwethaf. Maent wedi dysgu sgiliau newydd a byddant yn parhau eu gwaith caled ar ol dychwelyd i’r ysgol i gefnogi’r flwyddyn cyfan i wneud penderfyniadau iach yn eu bywydau. Llysgennad ardderchog ar gyfer Ysgol Bae Baglan.

Year 8 Pupils have been working hard to learn about the dangers of smoking offsite these last two days. They have learnt some fantastic skills and will continue the work hard on their return to school to support the whole year in making healthy choices for life. Fantastic ambassadors for YBB.

Hyfryd iawn oedd cynnal Cystadleuaeth Hoci Blwyddyn 8 Gorllewin Morgannwg yn yr ysgol heddiw. Da iawn i’n tim ni am berfformiad ardderchog a hefyd i Ysgol Tregwyr, Ysgol Bishopston ac Ysgol Gwyr am chwarae hoci campus. Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Ysgol Olchfa am ennill y gystadleuaeth ac i Ysgol Ystalyfera sydd hefyd yn mynd trwyddo i’r rownd cenedlaethol. Diolch yn fawr iawn i Mrs Austin, Adran Addysg Gorfforol Ysgol Bae Baglan am yr holl waith trefnu, cyfle gwych i’r merched.

It was lovely to hold the Year 8 West Glamorgan Hockey Tournament in school today. Well done to our team on an excellent performance and to Ysgol Gowerton, Ysgol Bishopston and Ysgol Gower on playing some very accomplished hockey. Huge congratulations to Ysgol Olchfa on winning today’s tournament and to Ysgol Ystalyfera on also qualifying for the national finals. Diolch yn fawr i Mrs Austin, Ysgol Bae Baglan PE Department for all of the work in organising and hosting the event, a fabulous opportunity for all the girls involved.

In partnership with Swansea University we are excited to announce fun maths sessions for year 7 pupils and parents. There will be three sessions in total and the first one will take place at the school for pupils in classes 7KCP, 7 HAU and 7DNO and their parents on 10 March 6-7pm. Full details have been sent out on Satchel. We very much look forward to welcoming our pupils and parents for the sessions.

Mewn partneriaeth gyda Phrifysgol Abertawe rydym yn gyffrous i gyhoeddi sesiynau hwyliog mathemateg ar gyfer disgyblion a rhieni blwyddyn 7. Bydd tri sesiwn cyfan cwbl a’r un gyntaf yn digwydd yn yr ysgol ar gyfer disgyblion dosbarthiadau 7KCP, 7 HAU a 7DNO a’u rhieni ar 10 Mawrth 6-7pm. Mae manylion llawn wedi cael ei anfon allan ar Satchel. Edrychwn ymlaen yn fawr at groesawu ein disgyblion a rhieni am y sesiynau.

Eisteddfod Caerdydd/Cardiff Eisteddfod

33 pupils from across year 7-11 travelled across to Ysgol Glantaf to compete in Eisteddfod Caerdydd 2025 on Friday evening. They enjoyed a very successful evening and another fabulous opportunity to use and hear Welsh in an authentic context. Our pupils competed in individual and group recitation competitions on stage and Welsh literacy competitions off stage. Diolch yn fawr iawn to Mrs Mel Harries and Mrs Claire Thomas for training up the group and providing another fabulous experience for our pupils.

Mae’n Ddydd Miwsig Cymru ar ddydd Gwener 7 Chwefror a bydd dathliadau yn Ysgol Bae Baglan trwy’r dydd. Mae gig roc a pop cerddoriaeth Cymraeg ar gyfer Yr Ysgol Isaf yn y bore a’r Ysgol Ganol/Uchaf yn y prynhawn gan band HKH. Hefyd mae gweithdai Telyn Cymreig yn mynd ymlaen yn ystod y dydd. It is Welsh Language Music Day on Friday 7th February and there will be celebrations at Ysgol Bae Baglan through the day. There are Welsh language music gigs by the band HKH in the theatre for Lower School in the morning and Middle/Upper School in the afternoon. We will also have Welsh Harp workshops running throughout the day.

Am fore hyfryd yng nghwni ein disgyblion ac athrawon clwstwr heddiw! Braf iawn oedd cynnal yr Eisteddfod Clwstwr Ysgol Bae Baglan cyntaf yn Theatr Michael Sheen. Diolch o galon a llongyfarchiadau i bob disgybl a wnaeth cystadlu a llongyfarchiadau enfawr i Ysgol Baglan ac Ysgol Blaenbaglan – cyd-enillwyr eleni! Diolch yn fawr hefyd i Wasanaethau Addysgu Apollo am noddi’r Eisteddfod newydd hon dros y tair blynedd nesaf. What a fabulous morning in the company of our cluster pupils and teachers today! It was lovely to welcome them all for our inaugural Ysgol Bae Baglan Cluster Eisteddfod in the Michael Sheen Theatre. Sincere thanks and congratulations to all pupils who competed on stage and huge congratulations to Ysgol Baglan and Ysgol Blaenbaglan – joint overall winners this year. Thanks also to Apollo Teaching Services for sponsoring this new Eisteddfod over the next 3 years.

Da iawn blwyddyn 7! Mi gawsom wasanaeth ardderchog gan 7AJH ar Gofiwch Drywern y bore ‘ma. Hyfryd iawn oedd gweld y disgyblion yn siarad yn hyderus yn Gymraeg a Saseneg wrth gyflwyno’r digwyydiad sylweddol yn hanes Cymru. We had an excellent assembly from class 7AJH on Remember Tryweryn this morning. It was lovely to see the pupils speaking so confidently in Welsh and English, describing this significant event in Welsh history.
