Prosiect Cymbrogi Blwyddyn 8

Diwrnod gwych heddiw gan Flwyddyn 8 oedd yn cyflwyno eu prosiectau Cymbrogi, yn edrych ar sut i ddatblygu Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Rhosafan mewn modd cynaliadwy, ecolegol.  Daeth cynrychiolwyr o Morgan Sindall, Coetir Cymru, Cymbrogi, Tata Steel, Llywodraethwyr ein hysgol ac aelodau’r Cyngor i gyd i’r ysgol i farnu gwaith y disgyblion yn y neuadd.  Roedd disgyblion Blwyddyn 8 wedi cyflwyno a thrafod eu syniadau ac roeddent yn llysgenhadon gwych i Ysgol Bae Baglan. Da iawn bawb!

A brilliant day today from Year 8 who were presenting their Cymbrogi projects, looking at how to develop Rhosafan Primary School in a sustainable, ecological way.  We had representatives from Morgan Sindall, Woodland Wales, Cymbrogi, Tata Steel, our school Governors and Council members all come to the school to judge the pupils work in the hall. Year 8 pupils presented and discussed their ideas and were fantastic ambassadors for Ysgol Bae Baglan. Da iawn bawbl!

Gŵyl Rygbi Bae Baglan Rugby Festival

Hyfryd iawn oedd croesawu timau rygbi blwyddyn 7 oddi wrth Ysgol Bro Dur, Ysgol Cwm Brombil ac Ysgol Severn Vale i’r ysgol am ein Gŵyl Rygbi heddiw. Roedd y tywydd yn wych ac roedd y rygbi o safon uchel – da iawn i bawb syd wedi chwarae! Diolch yn fawr i Mr Davies a Mr Bramwell am ei drefnu.

It was great to welcome the year 7 rugby teams from Ysgol Bro Dur, Ysgol Cwm Brombil and Ysgol Severn Vale to the school for our Rugby Festival today. The weather was great and the rugby was of a high standard – well done to everyone who played! Diolch yn fawr i Mr Davies and Mr Bramwell for organising it.

Taith Pel-rwyd Blwyddyn 11 Swindon Netball Tour

Cafodd ein tîm Blwyddyn 11 daith pêl-rwyd hynod lwyddiannus ar ôl eu cymedroli ddydd Iau. Teithiom i Swindon ar gyfer twrnamaint PGL Ysgolion. Chwaraeon nhw 5 gêm ddydd Sadwrn gan ennill 4 gêm yn argyhoeddiadol a cholli un. Chwaraeon nhw 2 gêm fore Sul gan ennill y ddwy gêm a aeth â nhw drwodd i’r rownd gynderfynol.  Chwaraeon nhw’n arbennig o dda yn y rownd gyn derfynol gan ddod trwy 6-3 ar ôl gêm gyfartal 2-2 ar yr hanner. Roeddent yn eithriadol yn y rownd derfynol yn erbyn ysgol gref iawn o Loegr, The Blandford School. Buont yn brwydro’n galed gan orffen yn ail. Roedd y merched yn glod i’r ysgol ac roedd ymddygiad yn berffaith. Breuddwyd i fynd â nhw i ffwrdd a chynrychioli’r ysgol am y tro olaf.

Our Year 11 team had an incredibly successful netball tour after their moderation on Thursday. We travelled to Swindon for the Schools PGL tournament. They played 5 games on Saturday winning 4 games convincingly and losing one. They played 2 games on Sunday morning winning both games which took them through to the semi finals.  They played amazingly well in the semi final coming through 6-3 after drawing 2-2 at half time. They were exceptional in the final against a very strong school from England, The Blandford School. They battled hard finishing runners up. The girls were a credit to the school and behaviour was impeccable. A dream to take away and represent the school for the final time.

Eisteddfod Sir Gorllewin Morgannwg/West Glamorgan County Eisteddfod

Dyma ein Grwp Eisteddfod rhagorol yn dilyn eu llwyddiant bendigedig yn Eisteddfod Sir Gorllewin Morgannwg dydd Gwener diwethaf. Mi rydym yn falch iawn ohonynt! Ymlaen i Barc Margam!

Here is our outstanding Eisteddfod Group following their brilliant success at the West Glamorgan County Eisteddfod last Friday. We are very proud of their fabulous work and amazing attitudes to learning Welsh. Onto Margam Park for the finals.

Mis y Plentyn Milwrol/Month of the Military Child

Cafodd ein plant gwasanaeth uwchradd gyfle i gymryd rhan yng nghystadleuaeth Mis y Plentyn Milwrol Ysgol Bae Baglan. Gofynnwyd i’r disgyblion gynhyrchu darn o waith celf sy’n dangos beth mae’n ei olygu iddyn nhw i fod yn blentyn milwrol. Cynhyrchodd y disgyblion waith gwych. 1af: Charlie Price, 2il: Logan Locke, 3ydd: Travis Gwynne-Thomas, 4ydd: Charlie Morris a Ryan Williams. Llongyfarchiadau!

Our secondary school service children had the opportunity to participate in Ysgol Bae Baglan’s Month of the Military child competition. The pupils were asked to produce a piece of art work that shows what it means to them to be a military child. The pupils produced fantastic work. 1st place: Charlie Price, 2nd place: Logan Locke, 3rd place: Travis Gwynne-Thomas, 4th place: Charlie Morris and Ryan Williams. Congratulations!

Mis y Plentyn Milwrol Ebrill 2025/Month of the Military Child April 2025

Rydym yn falch iawn i gefnogi Mis y Plentyn Milwrol yn Ysgol Bae Baglan. Mae llawer o weithgareddau gan gynnwys cystadlaethau celf a chrefft i ddathlu ein plant lluoedd arfog yn digywydd yn yr ysgol y mis hon. Diolch yn fawr i’n Pencampwraig Plant Lluoedd Arfog Mrs Challenger am ei gwaith rhagorol.

We are very proud to support Month of the Military Child in Ysgol Bae Baglan. There are loads of activities, including arts and crafts competitions taking place to celebrate our service children during the month ahead. Sincere thanks to our Armed Forces Children’s Champion Mrs Challenger for her outstanding work.

Elusen Bethan Chapel Trust Charity

Diolch i bawb a gyfrannodd at y cyfanswm arian a godwyd ar gyfer ein dewis elusen – Bethel Chapel Trust PT.   Llwyddwyd i godi cyfanswm o £200.

Mae Ymddiriedolaeth Capel Bethel yn darparu eitemau babanod ail-law o ansawdd da, dillad o fabis newydd-anedig hyd at 24 mis oed, llaeth, cewynnau, offer, blancedi, basgedi Moses, cadeiriau gwthio, cotiau, bygis a nwyddau ymolchi hanfodol. Rhoddir y rhain am ddim i unrhyw un sy’n cael trafferth yn ein cymuned leol.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the total money raised for our chosen charity – Bethel Chapel Trust PT.   We managed to raise a total of £200.

The Bethel Chapel Trust provide good quality used baby items, clothing from new born to 24 months, milk, nappies, equipment, blankets, Moses baskets, pushchairs, cots, buggies and essential toiletries. These are given free of charge to anyone who is struggling in our local community.

Gwasanaethau Menter Iaith Castell Nedd Port Talbot Assemblies

Rydym wrth ein bodd yr wythnos hon wrth groesawu Leanne Walker o Fenter Iaith Castell Nedd Port Talbot i’r ysgol. Mae Leanne yn cyflwyno gwsanaethau ar gyfer blwyddyn 7-11 am fanteision dysgu Cymraeg, yn y gweithle ac yn y gymuned.

We are delighted to welcome Leanne Walker from Menter Iaith Neath Port Talbot to school this week. Leanne is in school delivering assemblies to year 7-11 inclusive on the advantages of learning Welsh, for future careers and socially.

DIGWYDDIAD ELUSEN MARIE CURIE STAFF YSGOL BAE BAGLAN MARIE CURIE CHARITY EVENT

Llongyfarchiadau i’n grwp staff sydd wedi cwblhau’r her 100km personol ym mis Mawrth er mwyn dod at ein giliydd i godi arian i’r elusen Marie Curie. Ymdrech ardderchog gan ein staff, maent wedi gwneud dros 5000km fel grwp ac ar hyn o bryd maent wedi codi £525 ar gyfer yr elsuen. Dyma’r linc i’u tudalen JustGiving os hoffech eu cefnogi nhw.

Huge congratulations to our staff group who have each completed their individual 100km target during March to raise money together in support of the Marie Curie charity. An excellent effort by our staff, in total the group have completed over 5000km and as it stands have raised £525 for the charity. Sesiwn Hwylus Mathemateg Rieni a Disgyblion Blwyddyn 7 Fun Maths Session for Parents and Pupils

Hyfryd iawn oedd croesawu Mrs Theresa Hendy a’i thim o Brifysgol Abertawe i’r ysgol neithiwr. Maen nhwn’n gweithio o dan y cynllun Llywodraeth Cymru Rhaglen Gefnogi Mathemateg Cymru a darparont sesiwn mathemateg hwylus ar gyfer dosbarth llawn rhieni a disgyblion blwyddyn 7. Nod y sesiwn oedd helpu rhieni datblygu hyder wrth gegnogi’n plentyn gyda sgiliau mathemateg. Sesiwn ardderchog a mwynheuodd gan bawb. Diolch yn fawr i Mrs Chandler/Mrs Glassey am ei drefnu.

It was lovely to welcome Mrs Theresa Hendy and her team from Swansea University to school yesterday evening. They are working under the Welsh Government Maths Support Programme Wales and they provided a fun maths session for a class full of our year 7 parents and pupils. The aim of the session was to help parents confidence in helping their child with maths at home. An excellent session which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Diolch yn fawr to Mrs Chandler/Mrs Glassey for organising it.

Cwpan Pel-droed Blwyddyn 8 Gorllewin Morgannwg/West Glamorgan Year 8 Football Cup

Llongyfarchiadau enfawr i’n tim pel-droed Blwyddyn 8 am gyrraedd y rownd derfynol Cwpan Pel-droed Gorllewin Morgannwg ar ol ennill 12-2 yn y rownd cyn-derfynol yn erbyn Ysgol Dwr Y Felin y prynhawn ‘ma. Perfformiad campus iawn gan y tim a diolch yn fawr i Mr Gorvett am ei holl waith wrth drefnu’r gystadleuaeth hon ar gyfer pob blwyddyn 7-11. Bydd Blwyddyn 10 yn chwarae eu rownd cyn-derfynol nhw eto yn erbyn Ysgol Dwr Y Felin ar brynhawn dydd Mercher.

Huge congratulations to our Year 8 football team on reaching the West Glamorgan Cup Final after winning 12-2 in the semi final against Ysgol Dwr Y Felin this afternoon. A very accomplished performance by the team and a massive thank you to Mr Gorvett for all of his work in organising this competition across all year groups 7-11. Our Year 10 team will be playing their semi final, again v Ysgol Dwr Y Felin at home this Wednesday afternoon.

In this month’s edition, along with popular Welsh music, Mared and Amelia report on the Year 8 art project on Mynydd Dinas as our WHSI 2025 entry, the Welsh/French Department Paris Trip, The year 7-9 poster competition for British Science Week, the year 8 Cymbrogi project, The Ysgol Bae Baglan/Bro Dur St David’s Cup rugby and netball results and the visit by students from Christ College, Oxford in presenting Romeo and Juliet to year 10. Our staff interview this month was with Mrs Emma Breeze. Emma is learning Welsh on our after-school Tuesday evening course and as you will hear, is already speaking with excellent confidence and fluency.   Diolch yn fawr a llongyfarchiadau Mrs Breeze!

Cystadleuaeth Ysgolion Rygbi Saith Bob Ochr Rosslyn Park Schools Rugby Sevens Competition

Mi gafodd tim blwyddyn 8 Ysgol Bae Baglan profiad arbennig o dda wrth gystadlu’n gref yng Nghystadleuaeth Ysgolion Rygbi Saith Bob Ochr Rosslyn Park heddiw. Mi chwaraeodd y bechgyn yn dda iawn yn ystod y dydd, ennill 3 gem, un gem gyfartal a cholli un gem. Gorfennon nhw yn yr ail safle ac rydym yn falch iawn o’n hymdrechion. Diolch yn fawr i’n Swyddog Datblygu Rygbi, Mr Bramwell, am drefnu’r cyfle rhagorol hon i’r bechgyn yr wythnos hon.

Our Year 8 Ysgol Bae Baglan team enjoyed a very special experience in competing very strongly at the Rosslyn Park Seven Aside Rugby Tournament today. The boys played very well throughout the day, winning 3 games, drawing one and losing one. They finished in runners up spot and we are very proud of their efforts. Diolch yn fawr to our Rugby Development Officer, Mr Bramwell, for organising this outstanding opportunity for the boys this week.
