We will be celebrating the Welsh and Wellbeing day on July 16^th from 11:40-3pm  

There will be music and lots of activities for the pupils to enjoy.

Cynhelir ein Gwyl Gymreig blynyddol ar Ddydd Mercher. Bydd llawer o hwyl i’w gael gyda cherddoriaeth Cymraeg, DJ, gemau, chwaraeon, dawnsio, stondinau, bwyd a losin traddodiadol ac awyrgylch hynod o gyfeillgar.

Our annual Welsh Festival is on this Wednesday in school. There will be loads of fun with Welsh language music, DJ, games, sports, dancing, stalls, traditional snacks and sweets and a lovely friendly atmosphere.

Llongyfarchiadau enfawr i’n grwp blwyddyn naw sydd wedi cyflawni eu Gwobr Efydd Dug Caeredin ar ol cwblhau’r alldaith cymhwysol yn y Gwyr dros y penwythnos. Diolch yn fawr i’n Arweinydd Dug Caredin Miss Amy Sherwood a’i thim am waith arbennig o dda unwaith eto!

Huge congratulations to our year nine group who have achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards after completing their qualifying expedition in the Gower over the weekend. Huge thanks to our Duke of Edinburgh Scheme Leader Miss Amy Sherwood and her team on amazing work once again this year!

This week, 90 of our pupils had the fantastic opportunity to visit St Fagans National Museum of History. The museum, renowned for its interactive exhibits and authentic reconstructions, offered a captivating journey through Welsh heritage. With over 40 historic buildings from different regions and eras, pupils were immersed in the rich tapestry of Wales’ cultural and historical legacy, bringing their classroom learning vividly to life.

Diwrnod gwych heddiw gyda Blwyddyn 10 yn cwblhau gwaith maes GCSE, tra’n edrych ar Afon Ilston, Gŵyr. Mwynhaodd pob disgybl a staff yn fawr, ac roedd yn dda gweld y Blwyddyn 10 yn mwynhau eu hamser yn yr awyr agored, da iawn pawb!

A fantastic day today with Year 10 completing GCSE fieldwork, while looking at the River Ilston, Gower.  All pupils and staff enjoyed hugely and nice to see the Year 10s enjoying their time outdoors, well done all!

Bore hyfryd yn y Bannau Brycheininog ar gyfer Cwpan Pen Y Fan cyntaf heddiw. Clod mawr i’n tim blwyddyn 10 a daeth yn drydydd yn y gystadleuaeth. A lovely morning in the Brecon Beacons for the first ever Pen Y Fan Cup today. Huge credit to our year 10 team who came third in the competition.

Heddiw, cymerodd ein disgyblion ffotograffiaeth Blwyddyn 10, ynghyd â grŵp o ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 9 brwdfrydig a fydd yn dechrau’r cwrs ym mis Medi, ran mewn sesiwn tynnu lluniau traeth ysbrydoledig yn Aberafan. Rydym yn hynod ffodus i gael lleoliad mor syfrdanol dim ond taith gerdded fer o’r ysgol, gan gynnig y cefndir perffaith ar gyfer archwilio cyfansoddiad, goleuo, a safbwyntiau creadigol. Cipiodd y disgyblion ystod eang o ddelweddau, o weadau a phatrymau agos i olygfeydd môr eang ac eiliadau gonest, a hynny i gyd wrth ddatblygu eu sgiliau technegol ac arsylwadol. Da iawn i bawb a gymerodd ran, rydym yn gyffrous i weld sut mae gwaith heddiw yn siapio prosiectau’r dyfodol!

Today, our Year 10 photography pupils, together with a group of enthusiastic Year 9 pupils who will start the course in September, took part in an inspiring beach photo shoot in Aberafan. We are extremely fortunate to have such a stunning location just a short walk from the school, offering the perfect backdrop for exploring composition, lighting, and creative perspectives. The pupils captured a wide range of images, from close-up textures and patterns to wide seascapes and candid moments, all while developing their technical and observational skills. Well done to everyone who took part, we are excited to see how today’s work shapes future projects!

Yr wythnos hon yw sesiwn olaf y Clwb Celf eleni, ac mae wedi bod yn daith greadigol! Gellir gweld y disgyblion yn gwisgo eu topiau a’u bagiau tie-dye pwrpasol eu hunain, dathliad lliwgar o’u creadigrwydd a’u hunigoliaeth. Mae wedi bod yn wych gweld eu hyder a’u sgiliau’n tyfu bob wythnos. Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb sydd wedi cymryd rhan. Rydym eisoes yn edrych ymlaen at yr hyn a ddaw ym mis Medi!

This week is the last session of the Art Club this year, and it has been a creative journey! The pupils can be seen wearing their own bespoke tie-dye tops and bags, a colorful celebration of their creativity and individuality. It has been great to see their confidence and skills grow each week. A big thank you to everyone who has taken part. We are already looking forward to what September brings!

Hyfryd iawn oedd dychwelyd i’u ysgol gynradd heddiw am grwp o gyn-ddisgyblion Ysgol Tywyn sydd yn awr ym Mlwyddyn 7 gyda ni. It was wonderful to return to their primary school today for a group of former Ysgol Tywyn pupils who are now in Year 7 with us. They had an excellent time performing in Welsh, seeing friends and their teachers. Thank you very much Mrs McHugh for the warm welcome. Thanks very much also to Mrs Harries for organising it.

Bore gwych yng Ngwobrau Cenedlaethol Menter Ysgolion Treftadaeth Cymru yn Abertawe. Enillodd Blwyddyn 8, o ganlyniad i’w prosiect celf dwyieithog anhygoel ar fywyd gwyllt a chynefin Mynydd Dinas, wobr genedlaethol a gwobr ariannol o £300 i’r ysgol. Da iawn Blwyddyn 8, rydym yn falch iawn ohonoch chi!

A great morning at the Welsh Heritage Schools Initiative National Awards in Swansea. Year 8, as a result of their amazing bilingual art project on wildlife and the habitat of Mynydd Dinas, won a national award and a financial prize of £300 for the school. Well done Year 8, we are very proud of you!

Cynhelwn Noson Wobrwyo Chwaraeon Ysgol Bae Baglan hyfryd yn Theatr Michael Sheen neithiwr. Roedd y theatr yn llawn ac roedd ystod eang o ddathlu cyflwyniad o lefel yr ysgol i lefel Cymru a Phrydain Fawr yn ogystal a llawer o waith gwirfoddoli nodweddiadol. Diolch yn fawr i Mr Davies a’i staff yn hyr Adran Addysg Gorfforol am noson i’w gofio.

We hosted a wonderful Ysgol Bae Baglan Sports Awards Night in he Michael Sheen Theatre last night. A full to the brim theatre thoroughly enjoyed a wide range of presentations, celebrating achievement from school level to national and Great Britain level as well as a plethora of inspirational volunteer work. Many thanks to Mr Davies and his staff in the Physical Education Department for a night to remember.

Mae’n hyfryd cael blwyddyn 6 yn yr ysgol gyda ni am ddeudydd o weithgareddau pontio yr wythnos hon. Mwynheuon nhw gwledd o weithgareddau chwaraeon/adeiladu tim ddoe a heddiw maen nhw’n dilyn amserlen gwersi yn eu dosbarthiadau cofrestru mis Medi.

It is lovely to have year 6 in school with us for 2 days of activities this week. They thoroughly enjoyed a feast of sport & team building activities yesterday and today they are following a timetable of curriculum lessons in their September form classes.
